Gay Man's Tracking Device

The little gay man inside of me has suddenly become infatuated with an iPhone App called “Grindr”.  It seems every time I’m out with my gay iPhone-wielding friends, I get the urge to open the app and scope the area for hot gay singles.  Call it a guilty pleasure… For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s how Grindr works: All it takes to sign up is a profile picture, your relationship status and a list of your likes and dislikes (kind of like facebook).

"Hey David...What's up? Play any Sports?"

Once your profile is done, your iphone, ipad or ipod touch becomes a gay tracking device. Using GPS technology, it lists other member's profiles in the area.  So now, when your out at the bar, you can open the app, see what other gay singles are around and decide by looking at their profiles if they are worth approaching.  My gay guy friends love this app and use it frequently.  They say it cuts out the awkward convo that often happens while approaching a stranger and asking if they're gay.

Disclaimer: Guys may not be attractive as they seem

But don't get jealous straight people!  Grindr is also working on their “straight version” of the app so that single men and women can start doing the same thing.  Some would say this is a giant step in dating technology and others might argue that it takes the romance out of it all.  Either way, I give this app a lot of credit.  Its about time someone made a literal "Gaydar".
